Karen Hewitt, TCI, has been a licensed investigator in the state of Texas since 1992. Before opening the firm Hewitt & Cowden Investigations in 1992, Ms. Hewitt worked in a number of investigative fields including over 10 years as an investigator with the State District Attorney’s Office as a Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Officer, and practiced as a paralegal for more than 10 years, and a staff investigator with a civil law firm. Ms. Hewitt received an Intermediate Peace Officer Certificate granted by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education, and received advanced training in Child Abuse Investigations by State Law Enforcement Agencies. |

Ms. Hewitt holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas, a paralegal Certificate from SMU School of Law, and is a graduate of the East Texas Police Academy.
Ms. Hewitt has served as President of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators (“TALI”) 1997 – 1999 and 2005-2007, and served as Chair of the Board of Directors for TALI for 3 years. She also earned the distinction of Texas Certified Investigator. In 2003, Mr. Hewitt was selected to serve on the School of Community Service Advisory Board for the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. Ms. Hewitt is Region IV Director for National Association of Investigative and Security Services (NCISS), and is a member of Metroport Rotary Club.
Frances Cowden was a commercial Texas real estate broker for over 20 years before entering the investigative field. She has been a Texas Private Investigator since 1992 when Hewitt & Cowden Investigations first opened its doors.
Ms. Cowden received her B.S. from Midwestern State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law

Karen Hewitt, TPLI, TCI, and Frances Cowden, TPLI, opened Hewitt & Cowden Investigation in 1992 to provide businesses and individuals professional and personalized TX Private Investigation Services.
Based in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Hewitt & Cowden have three branch offices to personally serve clients, as well as a network of professional licensed investigators throughout Texas to easily address any client needs.
Our staff is comprised of seasoned experts from a wide range of backgrounds related to the investigative and law enforcement fields. Our Principle Investigators are degreed professionals with a combined experience of over 75 years. Members of Hewitt & Cowden staff are Texas Licensed Investigators who surpass certification and continuing education requirements of the Texas Private Security Bureau.

Hewitt has over 30 years of hands on experience in the investigation, legal, and law enforcement fields. Prior to opening Hewitt & Cowden Investigations, She worked as an investigator for the State District Attorneys Office, as a Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Officer, and as a paralegal with a civil law firm. Hewitt has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas, a paralegal certificate from the SMU School of Law, and is a graduate of the East Texas Police Academy.
Francis Cowden, TPLI Founder and Owner
Cowden has over 7 years of experience in investigation field, and has 20 years of experience in real estate. Prior to co-founding Hewitt & Cowden Investigations, she worked as a real estate broker where she gained an extensive background in real estate assets, contract negotiations, and property research. Cowden has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Midwestern State University and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.
